At Donovan CPAs, we understand the value of taking a step back from our busy routines to foster connection and rejuvenate our team. This sentiment inspired a unique and heartfelt approach to our recent Women’s Quarterly Luncheon: a candle-making experience designed to refresh, connect, and inspire.
Amid the demands of software updates, GFR note transfers, and data cleanups, the luncheon offered a much needed break for our team. Ten women from Donovan CPAs gathered for a hands-on candle making workshop, led by Mary Riggle and Suzanne Lemler. This time, the event came with a thoughtful twist.
Each participant not only made a candle for themselves but also created two candles for fellow team members who couldn’t attend. The candles were accompanied by personalized tags featuring heartfelt messages. It was a powerful reminder of the spirit of teamwork and the personal connections that make our workplace thrive.
The event was more than just a task to make candles. It sparked laughter and collaboration, even among team members who rarely work together. One memorable moment saw Hannah and Abigail—who don’t typically cross paths at work—bonding over scent combinations, resulting in laughter and shared creativity. These interactions embody the spirit of the luncheon: building bridges and strengthening bonds across the team.
By the end of the day, 28 candles—each crafted with care and paired with personalized messages—found their way back to the office. As the candles were placed on desks in the Donovan CPAs office, they served as tangible reminders of the warmth and support within our team.
Reflecting on the event, Suzanne expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to help organize the luncheon alongside Mary. She shared, “I love doing things for the team and appreciate that I can use my gifts and talents to support Mary’s initiative. It’s an honor! Thank you for the support and funds to do this adventure!”
